What we're building in Bairnsdale isn't just for Bairnsdale. It's a model that could transform how regional towns across Australia support their neurodivergent young people, whilst providing a much-needed resource for the wider community.
We know gaming gets young people through the door. It's the interest that brings them in, the high-end technology many don't have access to at home, the community they're looking for. But what happens once they're here depends on what each person needs.
ESports Collective is designed specifically as a place of connection for neurodivergent people, but we're here for everyone. We want to be a space where disability support doesn't happen behind closed doors—where neurodivergent young people can access the services they need alongside their peers, not separated from the wider community.
For some, it's simply a place to game with friends, participate in tournaments, or be part of a community. For others, it's also where they can access support—working one-on-one with allied health professionals who use gaming as a tool, participating in capacity building programs, or accessing counselling in an environment that feels familiar and safe, not clinical and intimidating.

Regional communities face a critical gap: limited access to allied health services for young people, especially neurodivergent young people who disengage from traditional clinical settings. Young people will attend therapy when it meets them where they are—in spaces built around their interests, delivered by practitioners who speak their language.
ESports Collective proves this works. By embedding allied health professionals within a genuine community hub, we're creating a new pathway for therapeutic support. Speech therapy happens during gaming sessions. Occupational therapy builds on digital skills. Counselling takes place in a space young people have chosen to be part of, not one they've been sent to.
What makes this blueprint transferable is its simplicity. Start with a space young people want to be in. Build programming around their genuine interests. Welcome everyone while designing specifically for neurodivergent people. Then partner with allied health professionals who see the value in meeting young people where they are—delivering capacity building, therapeutic supports, and specialist services within a community context.
We're proving it works here in Bairnsdale, and we're committed to replicating this model. From East Gippsland to regional towns across Queensland, NSW, and beyond—every regional community deserves a space where young people can access the allied health support they need, embedded naturally in a thriving community hub that welcomes everyone.

ESports Collective is a Gippsland organization dedicated to making gaming social, not isolating. We create inclusive environments - in person and online - where young people connect through gaming and build skills for life. Our commitment to celebrating neurodiversity and creating inclusive pathways remains at the heart of everything we do, creating a blueprint for community gaming & supports we want to replicate across Australia.
