DIGITAL MENTORING

Young Mentor

program

We’re pioneering an innovative approach to digital inclusion that brings generations together through technology and community connection.

Bridge the Digital Divide in East Gippsland

Turn Your Tech Skills Into Free Gaming Sessions

Good with phones, computers, or apps? Earn 1 hour of free gaming for every 1 hour you help someone learn technology. It's that simple.

We're launching a unique mentoring program in East Gippsland—where your existing tech knowledge becomes valuable community service, and community service becomes free gaming time plus membership in a supportive youth group at our Bairnsdale Gaming Space.

Turn Your Tech Skills Into Free Gaming Sessions

Real Rewards for Real Impact

This isn't just volunteering - it's meaningful work with real rewards. Help older adults master technology while earning free entertainment time at our premium gaming facility. Your tech knowledge is valuable, and we're proving it.

Build Confidence & Connection

Develop communication skills at your own pace, earn official certification, and build meaningful connections across generations. The program adapts to your goals - whether that's work experience, personal growth, or community contribution.

Free Game Time

For every hour you volunteer as a mentor, you earn an hour at ESports Collective. Whether you're into gaming, want to try something new, or just enjoy hanging out in a cool space - your community service earns you access. Plus, you'll be part of a supportive youth group where mentors connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.

What You'll Actually Do

Learn

We'll teach you everything you need to know about helping others with technology through friendly, supportive training. You'll get ongoing coaching and peer support from our team. No experience needed—just willingness to help.

Help

Help older adults master smartphones, tablets, and essential apps while teaching internet safety and scam awareness. Support everyday tech like online banking and video calls, being patient and encouraging while people learn at their own pace.

Play

For every hour you spend helping someone navigate technology, you earn an hour of Game Time at ESports Collective. Plus, you'll be part of a supportive youth group where mentors connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.

We welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds. Whether you're seeking work experience, personal growth, or simply want to help your community, this program adapts to your unique goals and capabilities.

Your ImpaCt

This isn't just about technology - it's about connection. Many older adults feel left behind by digital advances, while young people are often underestimated for their knowledge and patience. Our program bridges that gap, creating genuine friendships and mutual respect across generations.

Plus, you're part of something bigger: This program is funded by the Australian Government's digital inclusion initiative, making you an official part of reducing the digital divide in East Gippsland.

Frequency Asked Questions

How old do I need to be?

16-21 years old. If you're willing to help, we want you!

Do I need teaching experience to become a mentor?

Not at all! Just be yourself and try your best. We'll show you some simple techniques, but mostly it's about being patient and friendly.

What if I'm not good at explaining things?

Honestly, most of us aren't great at it starting out! Just give it a go - we'll help you get better, and older adults are usually super patient while you figure it out together.

How much time do I need to commit?

Whatever you can manage! Some people do an hour a month, others do more. There's no pressure - just help when you can.

Where do mentoring sessions happen?

Mentoring sessions will take place at ESports Collective. If you're comfortable with it, U3A and Bairnsdale Library are also part of the Good Things Network and may need Digital Mentors too!

I'm an NDIS participant. Can I still be a mentor?

Of course! Everyone has something to offer. We'll support you however you need - whether that's providing a Support Worker or welcoming your existing NDIS Support Worker to join you.

East Gippsland's premier gaming hub where we transform passion into purpose, creating meaningful connections and real-world opportunities in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
